The Westin brand, in my view, holds a highly reputable customer service record. We’ve been Bonvoy members for years and have never had any issues. This particular Westin, where they hold the Bubblicious Brunch, is a place we visit 2-3 times a year and always recommend to visiting friends and family. This time around, it was a nightmare! A security guard there, who was tall, stocky, and bald, was rude, arrogant, and racist. I asked him multiple times for his name, but he rudely refused and ignored me. He accused us of multiple things: 1. As we were gathering up our friends, I decided to sit down on a bar stool near the door because my feet were in so much pain. As I sat there, this security guard started harassing me to get off the stool because it was not allowed. (I was just sitting there, minding my own business and waiting.) I asked him why ( why have tables and chairs if it cannot be used), and he refused to justify it. 2. When we initially entered the bar, my friend had asked to store my gifts behind reception at the entrance of the bar so they wouldn't be in the way, as it was busy. As we were leaving, my friend, who is French but of African descent, went to pick up the gifts and was waiting just outside the entrance of the bar. This same security guard harassed my friend to inspect the inside of the bags and accused her of taking them. Initially, she thought nothing of it, then he got the receptionist, and again the lady inspected the bag. By this time, I got involved and told them that it was my birthday and those were my presents. Then he just stormed off, dismissing us with a very arrogant attitude. 3. Another incident with the same security guard occurred when he accused us of taking and drinking leftover drinks from another table. (After waiting at the bar and paying hundreds of dirhams for these drinks, only to be accused of stealing them, what sort of customer service is this?) As this was happening, another two friends of mine were coming back from the bathroom, which was outside the bar. (They were told to leave their drinks at reception and pick them up after using the bathroom.) When they picked up their drinks, this security guard continued to give us abuse, accusing us of stealing drinks. We told him to go check the cameras, and he refused. When a fellow security colleague told him he was wrong, he refused to apologize and shooed us off with his hand, saying “too much drama.” After all of this, I was hysterical, and the situation escalated to the point where the restaurant manager came out to talk to us. We explained what happened and all the different scenarios that had just taken place. The restaurant manager apologized and told us he would talk to the security guard in question. I told him that wasn’t good enough and that I wanted that security guard to apologize to us for treating us like second-class citizens and for ruining my birthday. The restaurant manager refused and said the security guard was never going to do it. Clearly, his ego was too high, and he thought he was above everyone else. I sensed that even the restaurant manager was intimidated by him. Until now, nothing has been done about this injustice, and paying customers of this establishment are not valued at all. I will never come back here again and will discourage anyone from doing so. It’s embarrassing to know that this kind of customer service exists in Dubai; it’s a disgrace to their reputation! I will now forever associate this experience with the Westin brand. show less

I had 10 glasses of wine and easily managed to drive home safely, the wines are light. show less
